Weihnachtsmarkt (Vy-noks-markt) is a vital fundraiser for the Sophienburg Museum & Archives, furthering our mission of Creating Connections and Enriching Lives through the Power of History. All proceeds go to support museum operations and educational programming.
Enjoy an exclusive Christmas shopping experience at Weihnachtsmarkt, a German-style Christmas Market with a Texas Twist. The market will offer authentic German collectibles and ornaments, unique decorations, specialty items, fabulous gifts, apparel and antiques. Select from a wide array of retail merchants and artisans.
The Gala

Please join us to kick off the annual Weihnachtsmarkt 2026 holiday celebration and Christmas market with the Weihnachtsmarkt Gala on Thursday, November 19, 6 – 9 p.m. at the New Braunfels Convention & Civic Center.
Your Gala experience includes:

The Brunch

Indulge in a delightful holiday experience: Savor a sumptuous catered brunch while getting an exclusive sneak peek at the latest festive fashions from our charming Weihnachtsmarkt vendors. Join us for a cozy morning of culinary delights and Christmas market style!
Kaffeeklatsch
Friday, Nov. 20th
1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Kaffeeklatsch means “coffee chatter” and is a time to visit with friends over a cup of coffee and a sweet pastry. This special gathering also includes a hands-on Christmas craft, giving guest a chance to create something festive while they relax, visit and enjoy good company.
Your ticket includes the class and a market day pass so that you can shop before and after your class. Also included will be a sweet treat and coffee.
Due to the nature of the craft, the appropriate age for this class is 16 years old and up.
Breakfast With Santa
Saturday, Nov. 21st
9:00 – 10:00 a.m.
Enjoy a morning full of fun and magic and festivities with Santa himself! The Weihnachtsmarkt team has prepared for Santa’s arrival with a classic Christmas experience, featuring a delicious breakfast, arts & crafts, and photos with Santa. Don’t miss this unique holiday tradition!
Event purchase includes one child ticket (seated) and one adult ticket (standing), any additional adults attending will need a market ticket ($15.00 admission).
Majong
Saturday, Nov. 21st
1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Join us on Saturday, November 21 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm for a fun, festive & exclusive Mahjong Open Play event. This event will be hosted by Serving Up Mahjong of New Braunfels and is a fabulous way to celebrate the season with friends in a fun and friendly competition, where strategy, skill and camaraderie come together!
Play for your chance to win fabulous prizes! Each win allows you to put your name in the basket for raffle prizes. Enjoy drinks, light bites and friendly play during the afternoon.
This is an open play event, and you must already know how to play American Mahjong to participate. This open play event will be played with the NMJL 2025 card; please bring your own as there will only be limited extras on site day of.

Holiday Tea
Sunday, Nov. 22nd
1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Join us as we celebrate the season with a Holiday Tea, Sunday November 22 from 1:00-3:00pm. You will be immersed in festive holiday decor, seated in our beautifully decorated “tearoom” including elegantly set tables with proper tea settings.
Enjoy a full English afternoon tea service, including delicious tea sandwiches, traditional scones with jam, and tasty desserts. Alongside this decadent meal, pots of excellent quality loose-leaf tea will be served.

Our first Market was held in 1988. We only utilized the ballroom half of the Civic Center, but it was a rousing success. The market has grown and expanded through the years, but has maintained the special traditions of Christmas handed down from our German ancestors, while staying true to the market mission of benefitting the Sophienburg Museum & Archives.
